    • THE THIRD EDITION IS THOROUGHLY UP-TO-DATE AND TECHNOLOGICALLY WIRED!

Authors Ricky Griffin and Mike Pustay encourage students to attain `cultural literacy' in international business—for example, to be able to talk knowledgeably with a visiting executive from a French multinational corporation or to understand and analyze the impact on themselves and their firms of trade negotiations with Mexico. With that in mind, the third edition now features a greater emphasis on cases and other tools to help students become familiar with the international marketplace.

Now, with 48 cases—including chapter opening cases, chapter closing cases, and two comprehensive cases at the end of each part—integrated throughout the text, students work with tangible examples of the concepts discussed in each chapter.

. . . and learn how to succeed in the international marketplace

To give students greater insights into international business, the third edition now includes three new content boxes entitled, Wiring the World, Venturing Abroad and Bringing the World into Focus, which highlight coverage of current issues related to technology, entrepreneurship, and doing business with a global perspective.

The Wiring the World boxes provide insights into the impact of e-commerce on how business is conducted internationally.

The Venturing Abroad boxes expose students to the opportunities and challenges of conducting business outside their home country.

The Bringing the World into Focus boxes helps students to understand the context—historical, cultural, political—of international business.

Ongoing features that help students grasp concepts . . .

Building Global Skills exercises get students involved with skills-oriented exercises.

Working with the Web exercises tie the book to the vast learning potential of the Internet.

Also at the end of each chapter, you'll find the In The News feature, an exercise that helps students stay on top of changing events in international business and allows them to comprehend how the theories and concepts they have learned in the chapter are incorporated into the everyday decision making of international business.

. . . focus on technology, and achieve success

To help students see an issue from different perspectives, the Point/Counterpoint features provide opposing viewpoints on controversial business topics and serve as a launch pad for student discussion and research. No right answers are provided—instead, the basic pros and cons of each side are highlighted and discussed, and where appropriate, the authors discuss the ethical implications of these debates.

An outstanding map program! Almost 40 maps help students visualize where various countries and firms are located and how international business transactions occur. The maps also help students better understand political boundaries and national geography. For example, a topographic map of South America demonstrates the physical barriers to trade among South American Countries.
